Social Welfare Organisation for Rural Development (SWORD) is one of the people centred service oriented Non-Govt. organization working for the social up gradation, economic reconstruction and to strengthen the lifes support system of the needy , marginalized and most back ward communities of Jagatsinghpur District and extending its area of operation to all the village of Khurda and Sundargarh districts of Odisha state. SWORD was established in 1995 under the societies of Registration Act 1860.

SWORD was established in 1995 under the societies of Registration Act 1860. SWORD is having its registered office at Dandilo, Jagatsinghpur. The Co-ordination office of the organization is located in Plot No :- HIG 152 (K-5), Kalinga Vihar, Dist :- Khurda, Bhubaneswar :- 751019.
The main objective of the organization is to undertake various social works in the field of education, training, health & sanitation, livelihood promotion, animal welfare etc. During last 15 years the organization has mainly concentrated on total literacy in selective areas, organized many health camps, aware the people on health education, running crches, implementing agro-farming, forming SHGs, conducting vocational trainings and assisting the unemployed youth in providing self-employed schemes, caring the animals, preserving the tribal and other cultural programme etc.
Now SWORD is operating its activities in Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh districts and the beneficiaries are more than 10,000.The organization is also conducting various socio-economic survey and using its professional on different research & development activities. The organization has given more emphasis on livelihood promotion by way of development of skill capabilities and providing them opportunities to generate income to lead better living standard. So, far the organization has received financial assistance from Ministry of Environment & Forest for conducting awareness programme on environment protection.
